Faculties - Special Education

Our school has six support classes, catering for students with hearing impairment and/or intellectual disability. Integration in mainstream programs and in community settings is very successful in our school, reflecting our very positive culture. To support our students' development, we run various programs to enhance independence skills and knowledge needed for whole-of-life.

Citizenship

We support and encourage our students to contribute in the events of the school, such as addressing whole-assemblies and multicultural day, as well as developing an understanding of and participating in society.

Community Access

Community Access Programs run fortnightly, providing opportunities to gain hands-on experience relating to specific units of work, as well as life skills such as handling money, using public transport, socialisation and accessing services.

Integration
Our students who undertake a Life Skills program of study have specialist teachers in Technological and Applied Studies (TAS), Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE). Our students also have the opportunity to choose electives across the school.

Peer Mentoring

Students undertake TAFE courses both in school and at TAFE centres. These adult learning environments support our students' development and prepare them in practical skills development.

Performances

Our Signing Choir is always a highlight in the Schools Spectacular, as well as our support class Dance Troupe. We also join in with the many school performances throughout the year.

School Farm
The agricultural farm at school provides plenty of opportunities to learn about plants and animals.

Sports

We love our sports, participating in a range of school-based and community-based opportunities, including Futsal competitions and Special Olympics try days.

TAFE

Students undertake TAFE courses both in school and at TAFE centres. These adult learning environments support our students' development and prepare them in practical skills development.

Work Experience & Preparation for Work

Our students relish the opportunity to learn new work-related skills in school-based and community-based programs.
